iraq votes

Now I might get this wrong but the other day watching CNN I saw that Iraq had the elections and the reporter was saying it should take about two weeks to count up the paper votes.. (wish we had a paper trail in this country).... And way.. This morning I heard that the person that the USA was favoring was not in the lead after a quick poll of the votes... And that the count would now take months to finish? Does that sound odd....???
